“Solar Decathlon is a global student competition in which technical universities compete in designing, building and operating net-zero-energy houses. The competition started in 2006 and is hosted by the US Department of Energy (DOE) and the Spanish Ministry of Housing. It takes place once a year in either Madrid or Washington. In January 2011, it was announced that DTU has qualified as one of 20 finalists for the Solar Decathlon in Madrid in June 2012” (solardecathlon.dk)
